Program Description

The Community-Based Mental Health Stabilization Unit, (CBMHSU), provides voluntary residential short-term recovery services to people, who are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of poor mental health.

The recovery treatment model applied at the CBMHSU consists of the following components:
- nutrition, 3 meals and 3 snacks per day
- sleep hygiene
- activation, (i.e. outdoor walks, chair yoga, arts and crafts, and music)
- life skills coaching related to activities of daily living
- individual counselling and group therapy
- Case Management service initiation for individuals who require the securing of external resources post-discharge

The length of the treatment intervention at the CBMHSU is 4 overnights, and 5 days, Monday morning through to Friday afternoon.

Referrals are accepted by self, or by third-party referrals (primary care).

Referrals to this program go through the Mobile Crisis Service.
