Program Description

Provides assessment, individual counselling and support groups while client begins to explore her substance use. Individual counselling sessions are one hour in length and happen on regular basis as determined by counsellor and client. Groups are 1 1/2 hours in length. Group and individual counselling incorporate a number of treatment modalities and are based in a number of theoretical frameworks with particular attention to how women`s experiences of substance abuse and are impacted by women`s unequal status in society and in particular how women`s experiences of violence shape women`s experience of substance use. Satellite office located in Kanata.

Access Information

New clients to this organization will be directed to Service Access to Recovery (SAR), formerly the Ottawa Addictions Access and Referral Services (OAARS) to have their assessments completed. The MOH-approved standardized assessment tools can be completed in-house. One-on-one counselling sessions with counsellor. Typically, counsellors do not work with family members; however, counsellors can provide referral information as needed. Clients can participate in a pre-admission group while waiting to start the program.

There are three open groups per week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. The Tuesday group is in the evening (1730-1900).
