Program Description

Community Withdrawal Management Services (CWMS) offers an alternative to residential withdrawal management for individuals who can safely withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs in a safe and supportive community environment. This includes assessing substance use and withdrawal needs, referrals to appropriate services and level of care; providing information about withdrawal to the support person, providing education and support during the withdrawal, facilitating the involvement of family physician, minimizing the risk of withdrawal complications. Support after the acute withdrawal experience includes working with the client to identify and determine their goals and develop a plan of care which may include an assessment and referral to residential treatment.
