Initiatives & Partnerships
At ConnexOntario, we work alongside trusted partners to strengthen mental health and addiction service navigation and improve access to care. Through these collaborations, we support Ontario youth and adults while providing essential infrastructure such as registries, helplines, and workforce tools used by policymakers, educators, and healthcare professionals across Ontario.
About Our Community Initiatives
ConnexOntario actively coordinates province-wide partnerships that strengthen Ontario’s mental health, addiction, and problem gambling systems. Through formal collaborations across healthcare, education, justice, and community services, we help expand access to evidence-based mental health and addiction supports across Ontario. We gather and manage program data – including regularly validating that data – to aid government ministries and other stakeholders in making informed decisions.
Youth and Postsecondary Mental Health and Addiction Resources
At ConnexOntario, we address critical transition gaps between youth and adult mental health and addiction services. We are actively engaged in community initiatives that address mental health and addiction concerns affecting Ontario’s youth and postsecondary students, including supporting the Good2Talk helpline and the Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health (CICMH).
Our team has gathered valuable program data on over 700 mental health programs available to post-secondary students across Ontario, both on and off-campus. This data enables post-secondary institutions and policymakers to identify service gaps, improve care pathways, and strengthen student mental health systems.
mindyourmind – Mental Health & Wellness Resources
mindyourmind, a program of ConnexOntario, combines engagement, technology, and evidence-informed design to help Canadian youth develop resilience. In partnership with community organizations and youth aged 14-29, mindyourmind co-creates interactive tools that strengthen mental health literacy, coping skills, and resilience.
Good2Talk - Ontario Post Secondary Helpline
Good2Talk is a free, confidential helpline that provides professional counselling, mental health and addictions information, and connections to local resources in Ontario for post-secondary students. Students can access support by phone, text, and online peer communities 24/7. Good2Talk is a joint effort to improve youth mental health support access between ConnexOntario, Kids Help Phone, 211 Ontario, and the Knowledge Institute on Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions.
Ontario Provincial Forensic Bed Registry
ConnexOntario manages the Ontario Provincial Forensic Bed Registry, a secure database that monitors patients admitted to the provincial forensic hospital system and tracks the availability of forensic mental health beds for assessment and long-term care purposes. This registry provides critical utilization data that supports clinical decision-making, system planning, and evidence-based policy development in forensic mental healthcare.
Working In Mental Health Professions
In 2009, ConnexOntario began hosting the Community Mental Health Careers website. The platform enables employers to post job openings and student placements across the mental health and addiction sector. It also provides information on career paths, university and college programs, and training opportunities for those seeking employment in the mental health sector.
Our Community Partners Across Ontario
ConnexOntario partners with a variety of organizations in healthcare, education, and the justice system to be able to offer accessible mental health and addiction services across Ontario.
