Program Description

Goals (at True Experience, Dunnville): To provide ongoing, year round, diversified employment opportunities. To provide realistic vocational training, skills development and employment opportunities for adult persons with serious and persistent mental illness, through ``hands-on`` experience. To encourage, facilitate and provide support to adults with serious and persistent mental illness who wish to pursue employment in the private sector (community at large), or who wish to pursue self-employment initiatives. To encourage and support outreach and public education activities in order to further the goals and objectives of the program participants and the program (organization). To reduce the stigma of mental illness through our Community Work Program activities in the community. Program Activities: The True Experience Community Work Program provides vocational training skills development and employment through the following activities: spring and fall property cleanups; seasonal lawn maintenance; seasonal snow removal; janitorial contracts; garage and basement clean-ups; small moves; piecework (when available), packaging (when available), and sub-assembly (when available). Access Information

Must be 17 years of age or older with mental health issues, must be stable and medication compliant. Intake process within one to two weeks, no criminal charges pending.
