Program Description

The Employment Peer Mentor Program provides enhanced support to individuals facing mental health and/or addiction challenges who are working towards employment, maintaining employment, or gaining experience in a variety of employment-related settings such as the worksite training program, transitional training, or volunteer opportunities. The Employment Peer Mentors are persons with lived experience with mental health and/or addictions and are in recovery. Employment Peer Mentors draw from their experiential knowledge to inspire hope and empower others in similar situations by providing social and emotional support in order to assist peers on their path of recovery. The Employment Peer Mentor Program provides: a collaborative, client-centred and person-directed program that responds to the varied needs of individuals who are experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges; an outreach service to meet clients in the community; an empathetic, personalized, goal oriented service from a person with lived experience.

Access Information

Client's eligibility for STRIDE's Employment Peer Mentor Program is: Individuals, 16 years or older, having experienced or experiencing mental health and/or addiction challenges; Individuals must be a willing participant in the program; Individuals must be able to set and meet vocational goals and be willing to participate in a variety of employment options that are responsive to their individual needs.
