Tangerine Walk-In Counselling

Type of Service

Counselling and Treatment

Program Description

Tangerine Walk-In Counselling is provided in partnership with Associated Youth Services of Peel, Peel Children's Centre and Rapport Youth & Family Services. Tangerine provides Single Session Therapy (SST), an evidence-informed intervention. The model focuses on the child/youth and or their family's needs and preferences, building on their strengths to develop a plan to address a specific issue. A counsellor will ask you and/or your child about the problem you want to discuss and any ways you have tried to solve the problem. Then the counsellor will help you and/or your child identify his/her strengths and the resources that are available to support your child and family. The counsellor will help you and/or your child figure out possible solutions to the problem. Later in the session, the counsellor will ask another counsellor for additional suggestions. The counsellors will share their ideas and provide a written summary to take home.

Access Information

Tangerine Walk-In Counselling is provided on a first come, first served basis and appointments are 2 hours in length. Youth ages 12 and over can come to Tangerine Walk-In Counselling without a parent or guardian. All efforts are made to accommodate everyone, however, high demand may require children/youth to return another day. Please note that our capacity varies week to week and some days attendance can be particularly busy. We regret the times we may not be able to guarantee service if there are more children/youth in attendance than available therapists.
Walk-in services are also available at partner locations:
Associated Youth Services of Peel, Tuesdays 0900-2000, last session starts at 1800;
Rapport Youth & Family Services, Thursdays 0900-2000, last session starts at 1800. Rapport Youth & Family Services will see youth up to age 21.
