Program Description

San Souci Program for Transition and Recovery is part of the Regional program at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, consists of two major service components (Inpatient & Community Support). The overall goal is to provide a range of specialized mental health services to meet the complex needs of individuals with a serious mental illness. Each service provides focused assessment, diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation support services administered by a multidisciplinary team. The inpatient services consist of a 38-bed residential treatment program. Clients may be voluntary or involuntary under the Mental Health Act and maximum stay is six months. The inpatient service has adopted the Transitional Discharge Model approach to work with clients. The Community Support Team and other community-based mental health services provide coordinated and continuous service. Service is provided by a multidisciplinary mental health team comprised of a variety of specialized healthcare professionals who work together within the services to provide a safe and secure environment to clients while promoting the best quality of life and client outcomes. Model of service is psychosocial rehabilitation, transitional discharge and a philosophy of recovery.

Access Information

Referrals for regional (non-forensic) programs are received by the Central Intake Office and reviewed by a team of clinicians. Referrals may be made from acute care mental health services, community mental health organizations and other tertiary mental health services. Referring agents will be sent a referral package and will be contacted for further information. The PSRP team may request a consultation visit with the client and the health care professionals currently providing treatment. This may occur at the referring source or at the PSRP Program depending upon the particular situation.
