Youth Court Services

Type of Service

Diversion and Court Support

Program Description

The Youth Mental Health Court Worker provides supports to the Youth Justice Court for those ages 12-17 with mental health needs. The worker establishes effective linkages between the youth in conflict with the law, the Youth Justice Court and appropriate community mental health and youth justice resources. The worker functions as a short term bridge between these systems to reduce barriers to youth accessing necessary mental health and ancillary services and to reduce recidivism. In cooperation with and approval of the Youth Justice Court, the worker facilitates the diversion of youth out of the criminal justice system and provides referral supports, case coordination, to link the youth with community based mental health services.
