Mental Health Counselling and Treatment

Type of Service

Counselling and Treatment

Program Description

Services are offered to individuals and family members living with a serious and persistent mental illness. Presenting problems vary and frequently include suicidal ideation and attempts, need for medication review or adjustment and various social adjustment issues. The program offers psychotherapy and counselling services to decrease the number of psychiatric hospitalizations and emergency room visits. Certain individuals may present with serious mental illness but do not require long-term intensive community intervention. Services are individually tailored and focus on assisting clients to identify and reduce symptoms of distress, increase ability to manage symptoms of illness, reduction in self-harm, suicide attempts and completions. We offer focus group sessions on various topics. Treatment plans are individually tailored to support a community based recovery model.
