Group Psychotherapy

Type of Service

Counselling and Treatment

Program Description

Weekly open-ended long-term interpersonal, insight-oriented psychodynamic groups. For adult patients (over the age of 18) suffering from anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues or relationship problems you may want to inform them of this group psychotherapy opportunity. The group is held weekly near High Park (West Toronto). The psychotherapy itself is covered by OHIP (only payment for missed sessions is requested which is $38.55 per session.) The minimum commitment is one year.
Candidates that would not be suitable for this group would be those in active addiction, those who have narcissistic personality disorder or those who are schizophrenic, actively manic, actively suicidal, paranoid, or psychotic. In addition, if patients are in an acute situational crisis, it would be better to start the group when they are more stable.

Access Information

Clients can be referred by professionals or the community or self-refer. Any individual sessions required before the group starts are also covered by OHIP. An intake interview and group therapy assessment will be completed prior to joining group therapy. The minimum commitment is one year.
